Russ Shaw

Founder of Global Tech Advocates and Tech London Advocates

Russ is an angel and venture investor and non-executive director of a number of high growth businesses including Dialog―a publicly traded semiconductor company, AIM listed Cupid plc and Unwire–a Danish, venture-backed mobile commerce business. He is also a limited partner in Ariadne Capital’s ACE Fund and an investor in and advisor to Amazing Media Group. Russ is also a board member of the Tech City Advisory Group.
Previously, Russ was the Chairman of the Marketing Group of Great Britain and was Vice President & General Manager at Skype with responsibility for its mobile division globally, responsible for Skype’s mobile apps as well as carrier and OEM relationships; he also had geographic responsibility for Europe, Middle East & Africa. Russ exited when Skype was sold to Microsoft.
Before Skype, Russ was at Telefonica, where he was the Global Innovation Director. This included managing a venture fund and an internal ‘incubation’ initiative. Prior to this role, he was with Telefonica’s O2 mobile business, as Marketing Director, responsible for initiatives such as The O2 venue in London.
He has a BS from Washington University in St. Louis and an MBA from Harvard Business School.


Eric Van der Kleij


Eric Van der Kleij is a technology entrepreneur and CEO of C4DR Ltd, an international hub focussed on the 4th Industrial Revolution. He is Chairman of the Advisory Group and Adviser on Fintech and Blockchain for The UK Government’s (DIT) Global Entrepreneur Programme. Eric is Special Adviser to the FinTech stream of the Zurich based Kickstart Accelerator. Prior to this he created and led Level39, Europe’s largest hubs for Fintech & Smart Cities technology companies based on the entire 39th, 42nd and 24th floors at Canary Wharf’s One Canada Square. Previously he was the first CEO of the UK Government’s Tech City Investment Organisation, tasked by the Prime Minister with boosting investment, entrepreneurship and skills in the “Silicon Roundabout” area of East London. He was also the co-founder of FinTech company Adeptra (raised $40M – sold 2012 to NYSE FICO)



Tracy Cheng

Vice President of Greater China, London & Partners

Tracy Cheng is the Vice President of Greater China, London & Partners, the official promotional organisation for London which promotes the capital’s international reputation to attract investment and visitors. Tracy is a well-established professional in assisting Chinese companies’ outbound and foreign investment into China nearly for a decade. Her strong connections with major China corporates, government branch and commercial organisations helped to enhance China-UK business collaboration in the region, especially those business in technology, real estate, healthcare and life science etc. Over a hundred Chinese companies have successfully expanded into London via her advice, including Alibaba, Tencent, Vanke, Greenland etc. Prior to London & Partners, Tracy has worked for Grandall Law Firm specialising in advising manufacturing and creative real estate enterprises to expand in China who is from countries such as U.S, UK and Germany etc. She and her team are well engaged with companies who has successfully set up in London. Tracy graduated from Fudan University, holding a degree in Master of Law (LLM).


Tony Clemson

British Consulate-General Shanghai – Deputy Consul General

Tony Clemson has been the Deputy Consul General in Shanghai since 2016.  He is responsible for strengthening UK relations with local governments, businesses and civil society across the whole of East China.  In previous diplomatic roles Tony covered political and economic issues in London, South Korea and New Zealand.  Before joining the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 2004, Tony served as a Warfare Officer in the Royal Navy for eight years.  He maintains a deep interest in maritime affairs and takes any opportunity to get back to sea.


Jihua Xie

President of National Eastern Tech-Transfer Center

As President of National Eastern Tech-Transfer Center, General Manager of Shanghai Yangpu Technology Business Incubator Co. Ltd, Deputy Director of China High-tech Zone Business Center Committee Association and Vice Director of Shanghai Technology Business Incubator Association etc., Xie Jihua is the nationwide leader in the field of entrepreneurship incubation who co-authored the institution of entrepreneurship incubation sponsored by Torch Centre of Ministry of Science and Technology several times.
Xie used to work in the Communist Youth League Shanghai municipal Party Committee and Shanghai Science & Technology Investment Co. Ltd. He served as the general manager of Shanghai Yangpu Technology Business Incubator Co. Ltd since 2001. Through the reform and innovation of institutional system he dominated, the Incubating area of Shanghai Yangpu Technology Business Incubator Co. Ltd has increased from 6,000 square meters to nearly one million square meters and the total assets grew from 45 million Chinese Yuan to nearly 3 billion Chinese Yuan. Additionally, Xie Jihua created one of the Five National Incubator Development Modes named “Yangpu Mode”, which becomes the industry benchmark. Since 2014, Xie Jihua undertook the preparation work of National Eastern Tech-Transfer Center (NETC) for exploring the new path of Science and Technology innovation services. He has been awarded “Shanghai Leading Talent”, “Advanced Individual of Implementation of the 20th Anniversary of National Science and Technology Plan (Torch Plan)” and other honorary titles.
